The game looks great. The cars have a lot of detail and look almost realistic. Cars take damage very realistically as well but only to a point. The tire treads on the tracks are laid whenever necessary. The stages look great but there aren't many actions in the background. There is some slowdown due to too many cars on screen or too much tire smoke on screen.
The game sounds great and most of the cars roar like they are in your room. Each car sounds different and very close to their real life counter parts. The surround sound could have been better but it does give you a good sense of where the other cars are. The in game music is good but because you can use your custom tracks, the music is never bad. You can listen to what you like and switch tracks/albums on the fly.
There are many cars in the game and most of them have to be purchased or earned. You earn kudos and the more you earn the better cars you can buy. There are many objects to accomplish and different difficulty levels. The computer AI is very good at the harder levels. They will play dirty and do their best to keep you from getting your target position. What makes it better is Live. Online multiplayer is not only fun but also offers more play time. The game will keep you busy for at least 20 hours. But there are some shortcomings. First, the AI can be really cheap sometimes. Some of the tracks are rather long and can be boring. There are some objectives that can be too difficult. After completing half of the classes, you will feel that some stages/objects are overused and feel annoying.
