Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay had little to no hype due to the bombing of the movie, but this game suprisingly ended up being one of the years best First Person Shooters. Let me tell you why.
Gameplay (10) The gameplay is just sheer excitement. You can do hand to hand combat moves, four of them to be exact. When an enemy goes to hit you with their fists or anything else. You can reverse their move and quickly dispose of them. An example would be grabbing a soldiers gun and directing it at their chin and pulling the trigger. This game is so exciting it will leave you at the edge of your seat, and even may scare the crap out of you at some points.
Graphics (10) Best graphics in any FPS game out right now. The grpahics are so crisp and clean it isn't even funny. The blood looks very realistic and just overall the game looks as if you are actually Riddick. No slowdowns as far as I could tell, and very little clipping if any at all. Solid Ten out of Ten.
Sound (9) Not a big fan of Vin Diesel at all, but he does a decent job at voice acting. The Music is very well done and most of the other voice actors do a great job as well.
Replayability (2) Horrible replayability, the only thing you can do is go back and replay previous levels which isn't all that great. It says X-Box Live Enabled, but all oyu can do is check and see if your friends are online. No Multiplayer, No Downloadable Content, No good Rating.
Story (9) Decent story. Riddick must escape from several prisons and uncover a much larger plot. His Destiny. Can't say much without spoiling it.
Fun Factor (10) As previously stated in the Gameplay part, this game is very exciting and fun. This game is the most fun I have had playing a FPS since Halo.
Controls (10) Basically the same as Halo with just a few minor tweaks and additions. That's a good thing because Halo had very simple controls.
Finishing Touches: The Bottom Line is this, Rent this game, you will beat it in the Rental Period. I wouldn't pay any more than $20 for this game. In my opinon though, the best game so far of 2004. (Even though I know it won't last)
