Square definitely went all out on this game as they never cease to amaze me because this game has pretty much everything a RPG gamer would want.
The plot, to put it bluntly, is about how you set out on a journey, as Tidus, to save the world from the deadly force known as "Sin" who leaves everything in its path in ruins. The story is very absorbing as there are a bombardment of underlying plot twists that might make you go, "What?," in utter shock. To go along with the engrossing plot, there are a colorful cast of characters, unique and important to the growth of the story.
The gameplay is good but not great or something to be awe struck about. Like the previous Final Fantasy games, you can summon, use magic spells such as Firaga, Blizzaga, etc. There are a few good additions, though, such as switching party members during battle, and each charcter has their own unique and spectacular moves that can devastate the enemy in one blow. The game also features the "Sphere Grid" that allows each of your character to learn specific abilities/stats that will become handy in battles. Each character can be equally strong once they complete the Sphere Grid because they'll end up with the exact same abilities.
The graphics is what makes this great game spectacular in a visual perspective. Everything in the game are colorfully detailed and are extremely smooth in texture. The FMVs are stunning and can be described as a visual masterpiece.
If the main journey isn't lengthy enough, the sidequest can take even longer to complete, as there are enjoyable mini games such as "Blitzball" and "Chocobo Racing". Blitzball is extremely enjoyable and addicting once you learn to play the game.
To sum it up, Final Fantasy games have always been viewed as "one of a kind" games, and Final Fantasy X is no exception.
