One of the more overlooked RPGs on the PS2, even though this RPG has a lot to offer.
The game starts off in a rather small town, Nohl, whose community depends on a Water Crystal, which supplies the town with limitless water. One day, however, the townspeople find that their Crystal has been stolen by a merciless man, Avalon. Realizing the townspeople's lives depend on that Crystal, a young man, Lang, goes on a quest to recapture the Crystal.
The story is very straight forward as there are no shocking surprises in store. Retrieving the Crystal and learning the truth behind Avalon's true intentions are pretty much the heart of the story.
The gameplay is definitely the best aspect of this game. The game features the unique, "Tactical Arts System," in which can enter numerous art commands to perform unrivaled combos. Unlike other RPGs in which each characters only has a few basic attacks, you can pick from virtually dozens of different combos. The only complaint would be the fact that the combo's take forever to finish. I can go grab a sandwich while they show the combo execution and as a result, the battles can get long and tedious.
The graphics are sadly nothing exceptional as the graphics are very bland and simple. The graphic designers could've put a little more effort in the environments as they are very discreet and plain.
This game is a solid RPG which a gamer shouldn't overlook. The gameplay is great and innovative so please do check it out.
