One of the 'marquee' games for XBOX, DoA 3 is well done in most respects. Super graphics and sound, varied and colorfull scenery. This game shows what the XBOX's potential can be.
Fighting is very easy to pick up, and advanced techiniqes can be learned for those who wish to delve deeper into the game. There is also a 'story mode', but like most fighters, the stories are shallow and a bit vague.
As of this writting (a year and a half since its release), this game is still THE fighting game to have on the XBOX. Is this a good thing? Not really, but DoA 3 is a very good game, and not easy to take its crown from.
