Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the follow up to GTA3, was a fairly amusing game. It was not as good as GTA3, but still well worth the purchase. Only half of the map is unlocked at the start of the game, unlike in GTA3 you can start off and drive some of the top of the line cars without having to go to deep in the game. The side missions are a major part in this game, actually most of the fun to be had was not in the main storyline but in the side missions.
The vehicles in this game range from slow station wagons to sports cars to helicopters and planes. The return of older versions of familiar GTA3 cars made me feel right at home. The addition of flyable helicopters and motorcycles is the most notable change in the game. The hunter, an armed apache helicopter, can be flown around the city to go on 'vigilante' missions chasing after criminals. Running from police on a speed bike gives you more agility but only at a price of being easily knocked off and flung from your bike. In Vice City the police now use spike strips to slow you down by destroying your tires making you lose a lot of your control. One thing they took from this game was the classic overhead view. The classic camera was poor for everyday use, but in police chases was fun.
The graphics appear to be just as good as it predecessor but more colorful to compliment its 'Miami' setting. The game play engine is still very good with only one crash so far. The lasting appeal is still very long, I feel I will be playing this game until another sequel is released, just like I did with GTA3.
