Well I was all excited to play this one. Morrowind was so good, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Oblivion. Well I got it, I installed it and everything is great.
As soon as I start to play it, the problems start to show up. Graphic errors galore (and yes, I'm using a high end card) crashes, BSOD, errors, and other problems.
Worse than that, When I get fed up with all the problems of the game I shut it down and decide to play one of my other games. Well guess what? Oblivion has found a way to screw with my video card drivers, so that all my games are now screwy. (easy fix, I just uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, but really, should I have to do this for a game?)
So I go to the official forums to seek help, as it is beyond me. Evidently the only way to get Oblivion to work without problems is to completely strip everything else from you computer, reinstall windows and make your PC an Oblivion desktop gaming center.
Then I find out the wonderful makers of Oblivion have released a patch! All be praised! Maybe now I can play the game! Wait a second... this patch is a beta patch! Why the hell did I pay $70 bucks to play (sorry should read to not play) a game that doesn't work and the company releases beta patches????
Ok, so now, they have released a final patch. Good, great, fine. I download it, install it...so far so good, no problems. I click on the Oblivion Icon on my desktop... good things are starting to load...WHAT!!! Crash!!!
Off I go back to the original forum. Guess what? Over 40% of the people who have installed the patch, can NOT PLAY THE GAME AT ALL! The patch made things worse!
The short time I did get to play the game, I must say, i was impressed. The game looks beautiful, has a great combat system, the voice acting is very well done.
If the company had of released this game a year from now, I'd say it would get a 10. But releasing a game where almost everybody (yes everybody has some type of errors from playing Oblivion) has errors, is nothing more than greed.
Cheers to Bethesda! Way to ruin your good company name by releasing a project that isn't finished!!!
