I had never played a Metroid game before, but as soon as I picked up the controller, I realized what all the fuss was about.
Graphics-10
Possibly the most incredible graphics on any game that I have ever seen, on a console or PC. The different environments and weather effects are incredible. The rain and snow look so real. Lighting effects are incredible. The way your enemy moves seems very accurate to the type of character you are fighting.
Sound-9.5
Once again, some of the best sounds that I have heard on any console game. The rain patter and the snow crunching are very nice. I also liked the different beam noises. The music was nice and it set the tone for what was going on. The music in the boss battles kept me pumped. It wasn't tacky at all.
Gameplay-10
I love it that Nintendo uses lock-on targeting in games like this and Zelda. It is so fitting, since many of the enemies are fast, the lock on targeting helps you keep track. The control system is kinda difficult at first, but after a while, you will fire missiles and different beams easily. The different visors help provide different information that will help you find items, defeat enemies, or find information that helps the story.
Overall-10
Possibly the most exciting games I have ever played. I have enjoyed many hours on this and I still keep going back for more. This defines what a great game is. Its control, graphics, and execellent gameplay make it something you have to play. This should justify your Gamecube purchase, if not make you want to go out and buy one. Play this game if you are a true gamer. You will be in for the, in my opinion, best console gaming expirence ever.
