Bloodrayne is a good 3rd person action game with enough differences deriving from the vampiress slant to make the $20 purchase price an excellent deal.
The ability to go to slow motion fighting for the tough fights made it a pleasure for me as I long ago lost the twitch factor advantage necessary for many action games. The game does get a little repetitive but the fun factor was there for me up to the end game. The end game was extremely hard and I was never able to defeat the last enemies, but they required that old twitch factor to be high.
The graphics were good with some maps such as castle maps being very good. There were no slow downs on my Pentium 3.06 with ATI 9700. The sound was excellent overall but I did encounter a few bugs including sound stuttering and conversations that ended early but they did not seriously detract from the game.
The protagonist, Rayne, is fun to watch and listen to with great action moves during the fights. However the blood sucking is too powerful as Rayne can decimate her enemies by sucking them dry one by one even while all the rest are whaling the heck out of Rayne
I recommend this game and give it an overall score of 8
