The first Zelda game on the Gamecube certainly does not dissapoint, dare I say it's even better than the almighty Ocarina of Time. As where OoT created a big sense of exploration, Wind Waker takes that sense and multiplies it times ten. I've never seen such a huge world. It is truely astounding, and with the graphic, sound, and gameplay quality, it makes exploring an insanely entertaining task.
Graphics:
The highlight and talk of this game have, without a doubt, been the graphics. I was never really skeptical of them, I knew Nintendo knew what it was doing. The graphics blew me away. Whenever you reach the volcano area with the spring and all the ash and cinders are flying around, you'll know what I mean. Everything from the wind, to the waves, to the lightening that strikes in the background during the storms is all so beautiful, you can't help to just stop and watch it all.
Sound:
Unlike most people, I find sound to be a big part of my game experience, and Wind Waker holds up quite nicely. The soundtrack fit perfectly whenever it was played, and I heard some really cool variations of early Zelda tunes. The voices used were fantastic, and every sound effect fit wonderfully with the environments.
Gameplay:
It's classic Zelda with a few new twists. The new counter move is incredibly sweet. I can't tell you how many times I just play with my opponent just to watch Link roll behind my enemy and cut him to shreds, or leap in the air on top of him. Some of the later enemies even have armor you can slash off, as well as weapons you can pick up and use. Unfortunately, you can't permanetly carry that weapon, but it's a cool idea anyway.
Overall:
This game is spectacular and deserves nothing less than a perfect rating. If there is a problem I could see, it would be that the game somewhat drags near the end (when you're fetching all the triforce maps and pieces), but even that is entertaining. If you haven't already bought this game, head out right now and do so. It's worth it.
