Indiana Jones is a great idea. It's a 3rd person, brawling, adventuring, gun-fighting whip-cracking ode to the movies done by the team (The Collective) that brought us the great game Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I really enjoyed playing the demo version of the game - played it through many times and then decided to get the full version.
Unfortunately, once I did, I quickly became uninterested in the game. The things that got me interested in the demo version were still intact - decent graphics, respectably cool fighting combos, an excellent Indiana Jones voice, nice little touches like Indy always stopping to pick up his hat when it's knocked off.... But then things got really linear and dull. The enemies all seem to have the same simple mode of attacking, and all can easily be taken down with a pistol from a huge distance. The camera gets jerky when you go underwater, the graphics are okay but not top of the class, and the control reaction time is about a quarter of a second slow.
There is a lot to like here (the music's great, the manual is in full color, etc), but for me I'll be trading it in after having toyed with it for just a few hours. It seems like the minute details were pored over more than the major factors such as level design, control, enemy AI and the like, which is a shame since there were the building blocks of a great game here.
