I was skeptical about getting Ikaruga at first. It was the first verticle shooter for the Gamecube, and I was uncertain about what I was going to experience. I did get the game, and was not at all disappointed.
Ikaruga is unique from other verticle shooters. It combines simple gameplay, with strategy to give you a very addictive game.
The game revolves around that enemies and yourself are composed other either two colors: black or white. White enemies are weaker against black weapons. You can switch between the two colors, allowing you to combat the enemy quicker.
The main focus of this game is to earn points, based on how you kill the enemies. Kill them in chains of three, you get more points. There is no real interesting story, so for those of you who love stories, don't get this game.
The graphics are great, and sound is good two. But what makes this game a winner is the gameplay, and how addicting it can be.
The only downside is that it may become very repetitive, because the sequence in which enemies appear never changes.
