After hearing that this Tony Hawk game has really improves a lot, and had a lot of changes, I immediatly rented it. And I was surprised: things actually got changed!
When you first start playing you'll be surprised how much changed: there's a story now, the 'create-a-skater' cannot be avoided anymore, more people walking around, a new stat system (do this combo, and the skill will improve), you can stop skating and walk (can be used in combo's...
However after an hour of play you will notice that the changes are not as big as they seemed to be, the missions are still: get a high-score, do Move A over gap B, grab these letters in one combo. Not that these missions are annoying, some of them are really fun, but I simply don't like getting 2 minutes for most missions, which makes it almost impossible to fail.
Also in the game they say that you are yourself, however this is not true: you simply choose how you look. how you act, talk, whatever is pre-made, and a lot of times you will annoy how 'you' act. Also, the story only advance after you do a preset amount of missions, after these missions, a short movie will appear and you'll get one more mission, when you complete that you move on.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the game, if they would've worked on those flaws, and the soundtrack (which is the worst in a Tony Hawk game ever) this would have been my favorite Tony Hawk.
Tony Hawk's Underground fails to be really impresive, but it's still a fun game, it can be beat in a short rent, but is fun enough to buy, at least if you like it enough to get 100%.
