Metroid Prime is one of the most beautiful games on the GC. The sound is crisp and the effects dead-on. The gameplay is fun, challenging and inventive. This is a game worth playing and it deserves most of the recognition that it has received. But the one thing that I can't stand, and many people may enjoy this aspect, is constantly running from one area to another to get some piece of equipment so you can run to another area and complete a task to get another piece of equipment to...
The game doesn't have to be linear, but this back and forth has always seemed like a cheap way to make a game longer. I enjoyed Eternal Darkness and didn't have to run all over the place. Ico was a blast and it didn't require so much back and forth. Resident Evil is much worse when it comes to finding needed items, but I got tired of doing it in metroid prime just the same.
Basically Metroid Prime is a game I think is incredible, but this one thing just sucks the fun out of it for me.
