Playing Max Payne 2 is like eating ice cream while taking one in the gut. So sweet, but bloody and painful.
The graphics run smooth like water funneled down a tenament drain pipe. Everything is detailed, from running water on the tap, to reflections in mirrors, reflections that remind you of what you've lost and can never get back.
Each character has detail, the physics seem so real, bodies landing in unusual ways, flying back against the wall or knocking over a stack of boxes to finally rest in a bloody pile.
Every dirty job requires a dirty way to do it and there are tons of weapons and plenty of ammo. Wipe the smile off their faces with a Desert Eagle or burn them up with a Molotov cocktail...either way they'll wish they stayed home that day.
Its fun to blow through a group of bad guys, save the damsel in distress...but sometimes nightmares come into the picture that have you just running around, not doing anything, maybe trying to push the story, but in the end just wasting time until the next bullet and the next body.
Overall its a dark, gritty world for Max Payne and a good diversion for now.
