Along with every passing year comes another round of EA Sports titles and another time of questioning; That question being, "Is it worth it to buy this years edition?". When it comes to NCAA 2004 the answer is most certainly yes. If you enjoyed NCAA 2003 even the slightest bit, than you will most certainly enjoy the 2004 offering.
Graphics
Not many changes in this department. There are a few new animations here and there and a few new hits that are impressive but as far as the overall look of the game goes, it looks almost identical to 2003. I should also mention that EA added several new Injury animations specific to each injury location.
Gameplay
As always, EA knows how to make a football game thats as real as can be, without being too dificult to pick up for a quick fun game. The biggest improvement this year was that of the DB's they now seem to be much smarter on the field. Another key addition is the Play Action and Fake camera. Now, when you run a play action pass or a fake punt or FG, the camera acts like the HB or Kicker actually have the ball for a few seconds before the camera focuses back on the QB. It makes playing against a friend much more fun. Speaking of which, you can now bluff your plays similar to NFL 2K3 by pressing L2 in combination with the previous menu's play.
Online
As I have yet to play a complete online game I don't feel I can give a full review on this aspect of the game. However, I can say this: It has the potential to ruin my sophmore year of college. Enough said.
Overall
This is a must-have for those of you college football fans that didnt pick up last years title and a good addition for those that did pick up last years edition. Also, the Franchise mode is unbelievable this year. With the addition of weekly issues of sports illustrated featuring your players and their improvements, playing a season is totally boss.
