The game that re-defined the stealth genre, Metal Gear Solid, is now available to be enjoyed on a personal computer...but is it worth buying?
The game is centered around an action operative called Solid Snake, acting as a one man army to stop the evil terrorists, located in a military base in Alaska. Does it sound interesting yet? It only gets better.
This is a port, a very well done port, but a port nonetheless. You will most likely need a gamepad to play this game for the whole Metal Gear Solid experience, I recommend the Thrustmaster Dual Power Wireless or a Gravis Exterminator. It can be played on the keyboard, but a gamepad is strongly recommended.
The graphics remain solid, better than the Playstation version, but the usual polygon jaggies can be seen. The text is nice and crisp, but seems a bit odd at times.
The sound is very nice, with a catchy "you are going to die" tune playing at moments of action.
This game is a very good port of an excellent game. I give it a 9.3, some value subtracted because of the jaggies and various little quirks.
