I keep hearing the complaint that this is just a port of the N64 version of Ridge Racer. Well...
1) IT'S ON A HANDHELD!!!
2) Not everyone owned an N64.
My previous experience with the Ridge Racer series was with the PS1 games. In terms of graphics, this game is very comparable to the PS1 titles. The gameplay is smooth, with a great framerate and a fantastic sense of speed. Many of the little things that make a Ridge Racer game are present (like copters flying by or waterfalls) that just add to the experience of being a "true" Ridge Racer game.
The controls are something that I am still wrestling with, but the ability to control the car with the "steering wheel" on the touchscreen is great. It seems to me that the control is finer, and adds even more to the experience.
If you enjoy racing games, this is a great one to add to your collection.
