I previously posted a review saying that I couldn't see why everyone was crazy about this game. Please forgive me. After playing some other Metroid games and given Super Metroid another playthrough, I realized what a masterpiece it really is. The setting and equipment are cool, the control scheme is perfect, and victory yields a genuine sense of satisfaction. My main problem used to be the annoying difficulty level, but its really not that hard once you learn the method to the madness. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I load my final save file and fight mother brain again just for fun. I've done it about four times so far in the past month. The game is addictive, fun as hell, and timeless. Forgive me for doubting, for Super Metroid deserves its status as one of the greatest games ever.
