Virtual Fighter has always been one of the better fighting games out there.  If you are a fan of the series you will definitely feel at home playing this.  The game includes Virtual Fighter 4, plus it includes the original Virtual Fighter.
The graphics have been update from the arcade release and look a little smoother, nothing too drastic, but a noticeable difference.  It includes all you favorite characters and plays well.  The only problem was that, with playing Dead or Alive 3 and Soul Calibur 2, this game no longer seems that great.  I did like playing it in the arcade, but got bored pretty quickly with this one.  Don't get me wrong, it is still a great game and anyone who is a die hard fan of the series will love it.  The game play is slower and more clunky than DOA, the fighting does not fell as real or smooth.  Also, having to defend with a button seems out of touch.  After moving to back as defend, having to press Square to defend again takes a lot of getting use to and seems like a waste of a button.  The graphics, although better than in the arcade, still do not live up to DOA or SC and even the move list seems more repetitive than its competitors.  The characters have changed little since the original (you can see for yourself since it is included) except of course for the graphics and the addition of some moves.
There are some nice features though.  You can chance the controls if you wish and at the end of each game you get the option to have a rematch, change characters or quit.  And both players get to switch characters, I always hated it when the winner could not change.  Also, the game keeps some stats.  I did not play that long, but I believe there are also some unlockables.  One problem was that you could not set the match to have infinite time, the longest limit was sixty seconds.
If you are a fan of the series, check it out, but if you are a fan of SC2 or DOA3, this game seems slow and old.  It was nice to play the original Virtual Fighter, but that also wears out quickly.  I am still giving it a pretty good rating, because it is a classic and fun to play, just no longer the best of its genre.
