This is a fun and funny game. The premise is simple, you are an alien race who is going to be extinct and need human DNA to survive. Your basic goal is to collect DNA, but in the mean time, your leader decides to take over the world, or at least, the USA.
Now, when you look at the game, it is pretty basic. A third person shooter, with a twist. But once you start playing, you get hooked. The game play is very good, except for the camera, which you have to move a lot, but that is to be expected in a third person shooter. The weapons do not vary a lot, but they are enough and get the job done. You also have some telekinesis powers, which are also upgraded as you delve into the game.
Half of the game also takes place in your ship. Which, like your powers and weapons, can be upgraded as you advance. Upgrades are done by collecting DNA, which you trade in to the leader for upgrades. You can steal DNA from basically any human around, but you can also complete side missions, or find some of the 30 plus drones hidden in each level. The side missions are your basic run around the map, kill everyone, find items, type of missions, but they are fun and not too repetitive.
As you progress through the game, you also unlock some cool stuff. You have a "B-Movie Theater," playing some cheesy low budget movies. Some game still, E3 stuff and more. Also, the game has probably the best auto save feature I have seen to date. It saves all the time and on the Xbox it takes only two seconds, so there is no wait. There is also very little loading, which is nice. You can skip almost every cut scene, except the few that the game loads through.
As you play in the levels, there is also an "attention meter"which tells you how much police attention you are causing. As it increases, stronger forces come after you. But you can use your Holobob power, to disguise yourself like any other human, which will lower the attention level. Also, simply hiding will have the same effect.
This is a fun game, it is not that long, but to complete it 100% would take some time. The story mode has about 22 missions, so a good ten plus hours of play. Worth at least a rental and I think a nice addition to anyone's collection.
