The graphics are obviously the first thing that will amaze you when you play this game. But once you get over how amazing DOA looks (which will take some time), inside is a deep and well-made game for you to enjoy.
Featuring memorable characters, each with their own story, you fight to win this tournament for whatever reason. Not like it matters. You will be too busy fighting intense battles where combos and quick reflexes are key to winning.
At first, this game seems like a pure button-masher. That is, until you learn about countering. Once you get good at this, any random punch or kick a beginner may throw at you will promptly result in that person on the floor wondering what happened. It adds a very unique element to the gameplay which is unlike other fighting games I've been used to (Street Fighter, especially). This makes the game feel unique and is fun once you get the hang of it, but it also means that your friends probably won't be getting into DOA unless they give it some time...and with an open mind.
I guess that would be my biggest disappointment with this game. Finding people who actually know how to play this game is difficult, but the single player will be enjoyable for some time. Unlocking the endings is, in itself, a rewarding experience. Once DOA Online comes out, though, this game is really going to take off!
