The diet coke of RPGs.  This was designed with the "amature RPG gamer" in mind, but it turns out to be just a watered-down disappointment undeserving of the Final Fantasy name.

First off, the graphics are just plain bad.  They could make a very nice NES game, but not a SNES.  Secondly, the story is very shallow, and the characters are very forgettable.

Last, and probably the worst, the battles are ridiculously...NOT deep (I already said "shallow" before).  In fact, the damage you do to a particular type of enemy with a certain sword and level is EXACTLY the same everytime!  That's right, no random number generating, which has me completely stumped.  Oh yea, there are the occasional critical hits, which take off the same amount everytime also.  Basically, you can predict down to the HP, how many more hits you need to do to a boss, and when you need to cure (because guess what? The bosses take off the same damage with each type of attack).

...oh yea one more thing...

You basically level up and manage one character.  That's it.  Your partner changes along the way, and stays the same for the last section of the game.  They usually join you a few levels ahead, but after that, you become much more powerful.  They don't get XP from fighting, apparently.  They stay at the same level all the time.

A somewhat enjoyable game if you're feeling kind of dumb, and it has its charms.  Overall, though, the game feels like it was created in 1 month with exactly 2 people working on it.  Only reason to play it is out of curiosity (and to call yourself the ultimate FF series fanboy).
