A fun experience with great colorful graphics, but has a few glaring flaws that keeps you from fully enjoying this game as much as the other Mario games.
First of all, the water idea was unique, but I don't think the entire game should have revolved around it. What happened to the Mario I knew who could throw fireballs? Fly with a cape or tail? The kind where you didn't have to control the camera as much as you do Mario (if not MORE).
..which brings us to the biggest distraction from the fun: the camera controls. In my book, I would have rather had a somewhat faulty automatic camera than have to manually adjust the angle all the time. Since it's still got many platforming elements to it, you just shouldn't have to worry about timing your jump AND swinging the camera to the right place just so you can see where you're jumping. Sure you get used to it after a while, but keeping your mind on that still keeps you from fully enjoying this game. If it weren't a Mario game, I wouldn't be so critical and it would be a great title. But come on, Mario deserves better.
