Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic lives up to all the expectations set forth for it and by far exceeds them with only a few small downfalls that can be solved. The choice to be on the light or dark side not only gives you reason to replay the game for the different powers but also opens you up to quests and items specific to each side.
This game starts of SLOW. Remember that because once you get past the first planet the game really picks up a lot. Battles that seemed boring at the beginning start to get really enjoyable as you gain more powers and options in battle.
Once you get off Taris the ability for you to become a jedi starts and you are left with a couple of big choices such as whether you want to move forward to the light side or the dark side and which of 3 jedi do you wish to be. I would reccomend saving before each of these choices and after beating the game on one side reloading it here and choosing the other choice- this saves you from the tedious beginning of the game and thrusts you right in to the other side.
The four planets you must travel to are all well designed and very enjoyable Kayshaak being the most enjoyable in my mind. The game is great at making you feel like your in a movie and how real the worlds are around you. It also portrays how difficult it is to be on the light side and how easy you can fall to the dark even by your choices in conversations.
The thing that prevented me from giving this game a perfect score would be the bugs or glitches i encountered in my game. One happened on korriban which prevented my story from moving on but all i had to do was load up an old save file about 20 minutes back and i was good to go. Thats the thing i want to reccomend in this game- save often. You should have plenty of room left on the hard drive and saving lots of different games lets you go back and play particular spots you enjoyed or play a whole new game on a different side like mentioned above. I can't reccomend this game enough and i have never enjoyed an rpg more. Bioware is a great game developer and they have injected this game with the same depth, humor, and just plain fun as they did with the baldurs gate series. 9.6/10
