Max Payne 2: The Fall of May Payne is a sequel to the greatest 3rd person shooter(In my oppinion)ever, Max Payne. Enough of my babling, and please read on to my review of Max Payne 2.
Graphics:
This the only department which pulls the game down to a score of an "8". Why? Because in intense gun-fighting, the framerate drops. It does not drop alot, but just a little which sometimes can be a little frustrating. Another thing is, the chracthers are not really that detailed. If Remedy can make the characthers much more detailed and polished, it would have made the game a whole lot better. The background is pretty okay. Alot of the things like locked doors, locked windows, paintings are blended into the wall. Overall, I belive that the PS2 can produce much better graphics than this right now.
Sound:
The music in the game is pretty good. However in the game, you won't really realize that the music is playing in the background. The gunshots, and voice-acting is top notch. Max is just so damm cool when he is talking to Mona(*cough*You know what I mean*cough*). Great job on the sound department Remedy.
Gameplay:
Bullet time is back in MP2, but with the improved Bullet Time 2.0. The bullet time is much better than before. Everytime you shoot, your bullet time meter will turn from white to yellow. So, what does making the bullet time meter turns yellow actually means? Well, once you get the meter to become yellow, switch over to the bullet time mode. You will slow every damm thing down, your speed in bullet time increases, making you an unstopable gun blazing hooligan. The boxes, tables, chairs you name it! Most of the furnitures in MP2 will move when Max touches it. Great big thumbs up to Remedy in the gameplay department.
Controls:
You will need a little time to get use to the controls in MP2. The controls are fully customizable. Don't worry about the controls though, once you get use to it, that means you are the master at the game already.
Story:
Max Payne 2 must be one of the best gaming story ever! In MP2, the story is a little sad. Its more of a love story than the rampaging story that Max is going through in the first game. I am not going to spoil the story for you gamers out ther. You will just have to get the game and see it yourself. Trust me, the story is plain awesome.
bUY iT or rEnT It?
If you don't mind the framerate drops and the less detailed characthers in the game, I suggest you get Max Payne 2. If not, I reccomend renting it first. Well, this is the end of my review, and I hope it will help anyone who have not tried Max Payne 2 on the PS2.
