Well everyone knows that most of the video-games based on comic superheroes sucks big time. Well does The Punisher falls prey into this division too? Check onto my review to find out.
Gameplay:
The Punisher is just a plain third person shooter game. Of course, add a little bit of gore to spice the game up. Yes, The Punisher is pretty similar to the Max Payne series. Sounds boring? Well no, the fun starts here.
The Punisher can go into Agressive Mode when his blue bar below his health bar is filled. Doing this, The Punisher will become really powerful. You will have an unlimited amount of daggers to throw at your opponents as well.
You can even go up near to your foe and intergorate them for some information. If not, you can just give them a quick stylish kill. You will have 4 commands, push up on the analog stick and you will intergorate your foe with a gun on his head. Push down, and you smash your foe's face on the ground time and time again until he starts talking. Push right, you will torture your foe with some punches and pushing left will allow you to choke your foe till he talks. Now, theres more than a way of just intergorating your foes. Every levels have special intergorations, intergorating your foe on them will gain you even more points.
Speaking of points, you will have to earn them to upgrade The Punisher. Nifty upgrades like longer time in Aggresive Mode, more ammo capacity, less damage taken from foes and so on. There are atleast of course a few dozen of different guns in the game as well.
Graphics:
I can say that the graphics are just average stuff. Yes, only Frank Castle(The Punisher) is highly detailed. The other characters in the game are somewhat not so detailed as they could be. One of the things I hated most is that when you are in Aggresive Mode, the screen goes black and white. So you won't see any blood, now Volition if you are making a gore game without exposing blood then why put blood in the game? This takes away the gore impact of the game, as it is a real downside of this game. Backgrounds can be somewhat bland at times, if not they look pretty good.
Sound:
The voice-acting isn't MGS3 quality here, but The Punisher is pretty good I must say. Music? All I can say its mediocre stuff. The guns shots and bomb explosions sounds pretty nice though.
bUy it oR REnT iT?
Seriously, this game can be finished in a day or two. I heavily suggest renting it only as it isn't such a game that can be added to your collection. Unless of course you're a fan of the Punisher.
