I loved Civ 2 so when I heard this game was coming out I was very eager to get my hands on it.  I must say i was impressed at first, but the longer I played it the more I realized it wasn't quite as fun as Civ 2.
Gameplay - Everything is there from Civ 2 with some improvements.  There are some different civilizations, new units, andcivilization specific units.  None of these matter a whole lot, but they add a little more diversity to the game.  Probably the biggest improvement to the game play is the addition of cultural influence.  If you build a wonder of the world you will get so many cultural points every thurn.  You don't just need wonders though, a library or a temple will give you points as well.  Basically anything that could be considered influential to your citizens.  The more points you get the larger the are of influence your city has, and if it becomes big enough it can overtake an enemy's or friends city and you'll gain that city.  This adds to the need to build more structures in your city that yuo may have just skipped for money reasons in Civ 2.  Aised ofrom that and a few other minor changes the gameplay is the same.
Graphics - The graphics are greatly improved over Civ 2s, even though civ 2s could have succeeded with this one.  The biggest and best improvement is the animated battles.  Instead of when you attack just seeing the health bar go down you actually see arrows or bullets flying.  This was something I was very happy to see.
Sounds - The sounds are pretty much the same as in Civ 2, but the sounds are a little more realistic.
Replay Factor - Even though, not overly as fun as Civ 2, it is still just as addictive.  You'll end up playing this game over and over again and never seen to get tired of it.
Overall View - A slight improvement that first commers to the series will fall in love with, but people that loved Civ 2 may not like them so much.  Still a great game though.
