This game was hyped like crazy so I naturally spent my money on it. While it came nowhere near the hype it still turns out to be a solid game.
Gameplay - The game is based on that you have 4 teamates who will go up against people in the future who seem to be conspiring to destroy the earth or some story like that. We've all seen the story before.
You start out with Tex a tough guy who's specialty is pulling out to heavy weapons and obliterating enemies. Next you meat Brutus, a kind of creature like the enemies you would face in a Turok game. He has the special ability to see enemies far away and in poorly lit/foggy areas. His ability also heals him slowly. You will then meat up with Hawk, she's the stealth specialist. She can turn herself invisible and use a blade to sneak up on enemies and kill them. Finally you get to see Flint. Flint is a synthetic human who can auto aim and will have no shake in her aiming. To use these special you have a meter that will gradully lower and fill up depending on whether you use your special abilities or not.
Now, since you have four team members you get squad based commands. You can tell your teamates to stand their ground, cover you, fire at will, or just to simply move to a certain area. These commands only really come in handy when you play on the hardest difficulty. They do come in very handy in certain situations such as when you want to scope out an area with Hawk while see is invisible. You won't want anybody to be fallowing you and draw gunfire so you'll tell your teamates to stand their ground.
There is a percentage system that lets you know how much of the level you completed. To get 100% you have to complete everything possible in each level. This was a good move, because it encourages exploration of the entire level.
Graphics - The graphics are pretty good, impressive at certain areas. The cutscenes are some of the most impressive fort he time period of it's release. The is one small problem here, Brutus was done kind of poorly. When he talks his mouth moves kind of wierd. It just looks way to stiff and never really closes ever.
Sound - The sound is very good in some aspects, but also the worst part of the game in others. The music and sound effects are amazing. You can't ask for much better. The voice acting on the other hand is horrific. There are terrible one liners right and left. It's ok to here some of the lines once or twice, but hearing the line "They never Learn." four thousand times during the game gets old.
Replay Factor - the is some decent replay in the game. They encourage replay of the game to unlock some usable characters for the multiplayer. The multiplayer is sort of week in the amount of variation in it, but it is fun to play deathmatch with a team of four characters on your side and you controlling all of them.
Bonus - The unlockables are nice, but what I liked the most that was added that didn't need to be was the stats. The game keeps track of kills during the game and multiplayer for each profile. It lets you know which characters you used most, which ones died most, which ones you got the most kills with, etc.
