Metroid Prime can be described in one word- flawless.
After 8 years of waiting, Samus Aran would return to the Video Game Scene with 2 games, Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion.
Metroid Prime is unlike the other games in the fact that it is a First Person Shooter.
When I first heard this, I was a little worried. I had enjoyed the classic Metroid games, all of which were side scrolling adventures.
My worries turned out to be unnecessary. The game is the best game of 2002, and one of the best ever.
One thing that makes this game so great is the graphics. When you exit a body of water, water droplets remain on your visor. When you blast an enemy, thier green guts come flying out towards you. It's amazing.
The music and sounds in Metroid Prime were amazing. Very rarely do I comment on music in a videogame, but the music in Metroid Prime was so good, I feel it deserved its own paragraph.
Unlike other games today, Metroid Prime is difficult. Unlike some games (Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Manion, Wario) the boss battles require actual effort.
This, my friend, is what videogaming is all about.
