First, to let you in on some details. There IS a time limit... Of course you can't stay on earth at night on earth! What they meant by time limit is an unlimited number of days...
Second, rather than bore you with long paragraphs, let me just tell you things I loved about Pikmin 2.
LOVED
1. The storyline will make you laugh. With the same type of manurisms as the first Pikmin, I laughed quite a bit. And the storyline and actions make you start to believe Olimars planet/culture really exists. Did you know they drool when they're scared? Either did I...
2. The new additions are great. White pikmin - Fun. Purple Pikmin - funner. The yellows now have the ability to repel electricity and hear things (remember their big ears). The new monsters are great and you'll get a treat everytime you discover an item.
3. The multiplayer (1 vs. 1) is fantastic. I would put it above the Super Monkey series and right on top with Mario Kart. Seriously, it's that fun. Lots of different rules and quircks, and in just playing a small amount there are so many strategies that you use to could beat your opponent. This part of the game earns rights for Pikmin 2 to be in the strategy category. Being able to work quickly and react is essential in the multiplayer mode...
4. Oh! And Lou! He's perfect. With a second worker you NEVER have downtime. You are never sitting there waiting for the pikmin to make a deposit. You are ALWAYS doing something. Perfect!
5. The maps are much more in-depth than the first Pikmin. There is so much detail. They've also added the ability to go underground, so within each area there is like 6 more. Your getting your moneys worth from Pikmin 2.
As far as things I've disliked... nothing. This game is outstanding. I would recommend Pikmin 2 to anyone. Old, young, smart, dumb... If you haven't played Pikmin 1, no matter -- get this one. You'll love it.
