GTAIII is one of the best games of all time. I did not believe it at first but after playing for days now, it has proven to me that it deserves the millions of copies that it has sold at will continue to sell.
The range of things to do in GTA is so great, it feels like you are playing an RPG. Side events here, side events there, it feels like the whole of Liberty is actually inhabitted by people.
Gameplay is simple to use but you can do many complex things. The games has many modes. One is while on foot and the other is while on a car. Controlling your character pretty easy. Being on foot feels like Legend of Zelda. You can lock-on to enemies, jump around, kick some ass with out a shield, sword or boomerang. Driving a car on the other hand is controlled much like any other racing or driving game. You can accelerate and deccelerate and reverse but GTA puts a twist, you can do drive-bys, which very cool and important part of the GTA gameplay. I do have some problems with the controls. The lock-on locks on the nearest person not the nearest real threat and you need to have a complete stop before you can get out of the car which is a bad thing if the car is on fire and your doing 60.
Graphics are pretty good. Though its age does show, it still holds up pretty well. The characters are detailed as well as the cars and environments. It also has a very good sense of style and character.
Sound is good especially the radio stations though they can grow old after hearing them over and over. The voice acting is great. The best that can be found on any game out there.
Truly, this game is a true representation of games in this generation of consoles. It shows the true power and potential of videogames as a medium for entertainment.
