This is a Mario game. If you are fed up with Mario then you are disowning videogaming. This iteration of Mario is, though has many things in common with the N64 installment, has more things to offer than what doubters say.
First, the graphics are great. It does not stretch the limits of the GC, it does offer a nice colorful design. The water effects are also amazing. It really looks like water! And there is nit a single slow down that has ever happened.
Second, the gameplay, though similar to 64's, digs deeper to the same mechanics. But with the addition of FLUDD, you could do many things that Mario could never have done on the past installment. Trying out many things with Mario's new toy to reach a coin or shine and exploring makes it feel more deep. Sure, FLUDD sometimes make things easy but removing it in the neat "platform" levels would make you realise how important it is in Isle delfino.
It is one of the better adventure platformers out there. The story may be a little sketchy but world that it is set in may make cancel that summer vacation.
