Max Payne II is the best game I've played this year.  It'll rank in my top 5 ever, I am quite sure.  This game is basically like playing in a John Woo movie, including the corny sense of humor.

The special effects are great.  Off course there is bullet time 2.0.  Basicallt the same as in part one, only now the world turns brownish in bullet time.  The rag doll physics are loads of fun to play with.  I spent one evening just playing through the same situation You can try the same play the same situation over and over again, just looking at what happens when you throw a nade or a molotov cocktail, or go at the bad guys with different weapons, etc.  MP2 is quite easy on your computer.  I have an AMD 1800+ with 768MB and a Radeon 9600 with 256 MB, and it runs smooth as silk with everything turned on, including 4 times AA.

The story is told again through pages from comic books and cut scenes.  Like part 1 it is reasonanbly well written, but you wouldn't go to the theatre to see anything like it.  It is quite generic, but it suits the purpose.

The big complaint by most people is that it's too short.  True, it ain't the longest game of all time - the average gamer will need about 8 to 10 hours.  But as soon as you finish it, you wanna start again and try different things for different situations.  The level of detail is very high and you'll probably notice new things going through it for a second or third time.  Add to that the fact that there are other modes of play than just the campaign, so replayability is guaranteed.
