The latest edition of PGR looks like it is the first generation game that it is. Great graphics, but you can just tell that they have much better things in mind for the next version.
Gameplay has not changed at all from the previous games, which for the most part is good, but the car classes have really become restricted. While they tag it as "life begins at 170", it would be a nice change of pace to take some of the slower cars, especially on some of the tracks.
Track selection is great, and the ability to make custom tracks, and take them onto Live and race against friends, is a great feature. Some of the courses I have raced on Live are better than the courses designed by people who were paid to do it.
While PGR2 was heavily integrated into Live, PGR3 goes much further. Nearly anything you can think of is tracked.
Single player is a bit lacking, though. You can drive any car any time, and at first I thought that was great. Then comes reality. What do you have to build up for? Unless you are collecting, which I was, why are you buying up a bunch of cars that you don't have to drive? And I mean NEVER have to drive.
This review is written after the Speed Pack 1 was released, so I now have a new gripe.
As stated earlier, I liked to collect the cars. I want them ALL. Well, with Speed Pack 1, they give you 12 more cars. AWESOME. But, they DON'T give you any more garage space. Not so awesome. You can no longer own all the cars at once. Oops. Guessed they missed that.
Still, I cannot rate it under a 9 of 10.
