Perfect Dark is a great game in its own right. The controls are dead on and feels comfortable. The graphics and sounds are well done by N64 standards. But where Perfect Dark really shines is in its great level designs. The levels are well planned out and offers a good deal a variety between them. There is a certain sense of linearity, so you really never get lost, but also gives room to explore. Multiplayer, while fun, is lacking compared to what most pc FPS's are offering. Playing 4 player split screen doesn't compare to online play. But note that is not a detraction against the game itself but rather just a point of comparison. Unfortunately you need the 4mb memory expansion, an expensive and hard to come by accessory to the N64, to fully enjoy all the features of the game. While a great game, Perfect Dark however pales in comparison to Rare's previous FPS offering Goldeneye a game in my opinion by which all future console FPS are judged by.
