This TOY is the EYE of new ideas but lacks an actual game to PLAY. This sure makes you say: "I never seen anything like this!" and in the next few hours you'll say: "are we done yet?"
Because of my limited skills with my english I'm not going to explain that well how this game works. YouŽdon't need the pad but instead your controls are your body! The camera scans you to the TV screen and you make all the movements with your hands. This very refreshing idea made a huge impression on me but after playing little bit longer it became quite boring.
The thing is, that after few hours the idea doesn't move on, and when I say this I mean that the new "camera thing" starts to feel old because there isn't that much game play as you hoped for. Sure it is fun for few days but after that it's like "been there, done that."
The developers didn't know how to maintain the interest of the player and it felt more like a test. A test where they wanted to know if people liked the idea until releasing the final product.
The game is based on several minigames -no actual campaign is made - such as kickboxing where you simply stand in front of the camera and punch the air and on TV the bag takes the damage. Yes, finally a game that requires a physical movement but this just isn't thought out that well. The game doesn't have enough different minigames to be more than a weekend fun. Lots of fun, sure, but I wouldn't pay the full price for this one. The game needs more stuff to play to keep the idea interesting.
So, the game has a new idea and that is great and that makes it all good, right? Well, no. The controls and camera (indeed!) are fine but there isn't enough challenge. The graphics aren't good and the music gets really annoying after an hour or two. The good thing was that there was finnish subtitles so that even children understand what they need to do here in Finland.
Perhaps the children are better target audience than me because I don't like to spend my time doing the same "exercises" time after time because then I would bore myself to death in a gym. But I think the children and their parents can take the joy out better because they can combine sports and fun at the same time. Sure this was fun and sporty but eventually started to repeat itself, like I am in this review. Well, this was a good start and let's hope that Sony knows what to do with this idea in the future. Perhaps this will be The Sims of PS2 and they are going to make many many expansion packs...
