For any game to be noticed in today's competitive PC shooters scene, three elements are neccessary; good graphics, good gameplay and good storyline. When games get these in the right mix they become hits. When Brat designs started developing Breed, they had a strong formula for success; a team based shooter, graphics that were near standard of the games in the market and a storyline that resembled Halo for the Xbox. So people who missed out on the Halo experience on Xbox finally had a chance to play something similar. But then the game got delayed, repeatedly and with it the chances of the game even succeeding became a question. Now that the game is finally out, we have a shooter that is so commonplace in its designs and aspirations that it is easy to ignore its presence. The game features some really dated graphics, which, except for the pixel shaded water effects, look straight from year 2000. Weapon sounds are muffled and feel detached from the weapon. The gameplay is extremely ordinary and the movement feels sluggish at best. The addition of vehicles is a nice touch but hard to redeem this game from being a disaster. Today, when high profile games like Halo and D:IW get cussed upon for getting a few aspects wrong, a game like Breed stands absolutely no chance of making it big. With so many decent games to play in the last few weeks, you will be forgiven if you didn't even bother with this game.
