HL2 is this year's biggest release, no matter what people say, this game has been more anticipated than any of the other contenders, and rightfully so. Be it the controversy over stolen code or the last minute legal hassle between developer and publisher or the new content download and activation system called Steam, this game has managed to get attention in all possible ways. SO how does the real game fare? HL2 continues the story of Gordon Freeman, hero of HL1 in true movie style as he returns this time as a demigod for the people of City-17. If Neo was the saviour, the One in Matrix, Freemn dons a similar role in this game. The game is technically nothing short of brilliant, from great outdoor environments to realistic looking water to detailed textures, character models, facial expressions, physics, weapons, this game has got it all. And the most important thing this game has atmosphere prompting the player to play just one more leve to find out whats going on. I wont go into the story to avoid spoilers but suffice to say, its very good if only the ending doesnt really surprise. The game features a range of weapons, classic and new enemies and great AI. There are some bugs though like flashing textures, gameplay bug in one level and sound stuttering problems, still this is the best game of 2004 and with mods to come, its here to saty.
