Simply one of the finest games I have ever enjoyed. The massive size, the excruciating challenge, and the horrible storyline. Yes, even this diamond has a flaw. Two flaws, really. There is virtually NO ending after over 80 hours of play, and the story is so drab and drawn out that after Chapter II, I was just playing the game for itself, and ignoring any story that arrived. Aside from these minor concerns, FFT is a great run from Squire to Mime. The Summon spells are great, and leveling the competeion with a well-versed calculator is nothing short of all-out fun. This is chess taken to a 3-D playing field with many diverse and varied characters, each with their own set of skills. Here's the best part- you make them what you want. From Knights wielding sword and shield, to White Mages with two knives that can kill or heal, the fun doesn't stop. If you lose a battle, simply re-configure your attack force and try again. Sound simple doesn't it? Truly compacted war in a 3/4 perspective. It doesn't get much more startegic than this. Dig in and go to war, with your own army.
