Beyond Good and Evil is a great new game with the right old gaming values. What it takes from the new generation of games are things like beautiful graphics, top-notch heart-gripping stealth gameplay, absolutely killer soundtrack and a well-balanced blend of various types of gameplay - there is stealth, action, racing, adventure, rpg, flight sim and even photography in there! What it takes from the old are original, multi-dimensional characters with actual personalities, a deep and involving story, and a sense that this game was made by truly inspired people - not just people getting paid to do something. What's also very special about Beyond Good and Evil, is that it is a rare type of sci-fi gem that beautifully blends futuristic setting and technology with a keen sense of relevance to our own everyday lives. It's out there, yet it's also in here, so to speak. As with any game, Beyond Good and Evil is not for everyone, but if at least some of the above characteristics sound like they might give you a warm and fuzzy, you owe it to yourself to try this game. Because Ubisoft for some wild reason discountinued production, it may be a little tough to find it for purchase, but there are always rental options. Renting is especially convenient in this case, since the game is relatively short - you should be able to finish it in 20-25 hours, even at a modest pace.
