Dropship is one of those games that have all the right elements, but they don't take them far enough. The graphics in this game are great, and I love the audio, how your wingmen and copilots talk to you. The missions have a great variety in them, between reconnaissance, insertion, extraction, blowing up sites, and escaping from a valley in a vehicle on the ground, this game does just about everything it can do. The controls are maybe just a little too responsive and that makes it hard for levels where you have to protect the other airplanes from enemy fighters that are coming at you five and ten at a time. The A.I. for the good guys doesn't seem very good. The only time everything was decided was when I jumped in and started firing off missiles. But the other side knew almost exactly when to juke and when to dive to avoid your shots. The storyline was good but it could've been better. The only story that really evolves is the one of a pilot whose family is missing from China and is desperate to go back and find them. He ends up finding out that he is too late and commits suicide to save the rest of his squad during a mission. That's pretty much the major story for the whole game. On the average I would give it 8/10, just for the controls being too responsive and the friendly A.I. not being good enough.
