Metroid Prime, the heavily disputed switch to a first person view plagued the gaming world for months both before and after its release. Few high profile games meet the mark set out for them from their hype. Metroid Prime in every aspect has exceeded it. I could praise this game for an eternity, but instead i'll point out the few aspects of the game that I wasn't a fan of. The controls can at times be awkward and sluggish. The rate at which samus turns around is often to slow to keep up with the fast paced action that bosses supply. Even the targeting reticle doesn't QUITE make up for the controls. Due to the controls, the learning curve for this game is heightened. However, the controls are by no means unmanageable. Once you grow accustomed to them, you'll find ways to make up for their faults. That's it. The only problem there is with this game is that the controls aren't perfect. Other than that, the only things I could say that the game could improve upon would be the results of questions such as: Wouldn't it be cool if you could blow up this? or do that? If you own a gamecube and have not at least rented this game, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the greatest games ever created, on any platform, period. 9.8/10
