The graphics of the game are again great and are good for the MK-atmosphere in the game. Not only the characters, which still are great (and different from each other), but also the backgrounds have been greatly advanced. The backgrounds may not be 3D, but they still look enough 3D to make them great. It's also very clear that the gore-level of the game has been increased, the fatalities are not only of more originality, but also of more blood. The sound in the game, just like in the first game, is great. The music has only became better, because of the game supporting better sound-carts then the first game. And the same can be told about the other sounds in the game, which are not only better, but also there are much more. Overall, it can be said that the game is a fantastic successor from the first game. Many still find Mortal Kombat 2 the best Mortal Kombat game ever released.
