Now, how do I start? Metroid Prime is simply the best game to come out in many years.  It is virtually perfect in every way, except a few minor problems, that do not affect the games incredibleness in any significant way.  First, let's talk about Metroid Prime's graphics.

Graphics (10/10)
The graphics in Metroid Prime are obvisouly incredible, and are definatly the best on the Gamecube, better than any Xbox or PS2 titles at the time, but PC still (and always does) have the graphical lead, with the latest greatest hardware.  In any case, nothing to be changed here.  Perfect.

Sound (9.5/10)
Now, the sound in Metroid Prime is very excellent, but not perfect.  Almost!  But, misses the mark a little.  The music is phenomenal, but a little more sounds would have created an even more exciting environment.  Other than that, the sound is excellent, but in my opinion it needs a few improvements.  Hopefully, the sequal will offer a little more in this field.

Gameplay (9.8/10)
This is a hard category to score.  The gameplay in Metroid Prime is incredible, very unique from every other game out there with the same first-person aspect.  90% of all first person games are just running basically in a straight line shooting down everything in your way, with little or no thought whatsoever.  A very good example of this is Halo, the overpraised game, with very great graphics, but very simplistic and poor gameplay, that keeps only basic players, or pick-up and go gamers interested.  In Metroid Prime, you have a vast world to explore and enjoy, with a totally non-linear experience.  You can go where you want, when you want (to an extent of course!), and find a big amount of secrets and powerups and such.  It provides an extremly enjoyable experience, that will keep you thinking, and get your palms, at times, very sweaty.  The absolute *only* problem with Metroid Prime's gameplay is the length.  Even thought it would be considered a lengthy game from some respects, but the 20-25 hours it takes an average gamer to complete Metroid Prime, (that is, without 100% of powerups, items, etc) will leave you wanting much more, even though you have had a fair share!  A sequal is in the making, and should be coming out later this year.  Other than that small little issue, gameplay surpasses what we have known, or been told, makes games 'fun'.

Value (9.0/10)
As mentioned above, the game has an average completion time of 20-25 hours, for someone who has not mastered the game, and is playing for their first time, even if they are a first-person aspect genre veteren.  Once you complete the game, a new, harder, gameplay mode is unlocked.  Plus, if you link up with Metroid Fusion, you will unlock the Fusion Suit for use in Metroid Prime, and the original Metroid for the NES!  But, Prime will be easier the next time around, since you will already know what to do, where to go, etc.  But, it is still an enjoyable game all around, and will have you coming back for more, be it soon, or some time later.  Besides, the game is in its bajillion-seller player's choice status, so it sells for about $20-$30.  That is a VERY good deal.  I never had a Gamecube before, but once I laid my hands on my friend's copy of Metroid Prime, I knew I needed a piece of the action.  I hurried out and purchased a Gamecube, along with Prime.  Today, it remains on my favorites list.  Now, at that time, the Gamecube hadn't had its price drop yet.  You may call me crazy, but honestly, this game is tottaly worth buying the Gamecube, even just for one game.  It is that good!  Plus, with the sequal coming out, it makes it even more worth it!  The Gamecube might not have the biggest selection of games around, but with 2 game of the years in a row, and a dozen or more games rated 85% or more, full of heart, and enjoyment, the Gamecube is a great system.  Go buy Metroid Prime now.  It is the only reason I, and many others, even have a Gamecube.  If it were for any other system, that system would be mine.  And I am not a fan at all of Consoles, I like PCs!

Final Thoughts
Metroid Prime is a simply amazing game.  From start to finish, you never lose interest, and it just gets better until its all over.  As I said above, Prime is the best game to come out since probably Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and it is worthy of its Game of the Year awards, amongst others.  Metroid Prime is not overrated, in fact, I would say it is underrated!  Even with all the praise, it needs more!  It sets itself apart from other linear, button mashing, walk-in-a-straight-line clear-everything-out games.  There is a blur of crappy games out there, but this one shines at the top, cleary away from the blur.  I know you will enjoy this game as much as I did, be you a Metroid fan or not.
