Metroid Prime.A game that shoked the videogame community(both gamers and press). It was too good to be true when Nintendo announced a new Metroid game. And how could we believe it when we had so many memories from Metroid, Metroid II and Super Metroid? One year later many gamers had the opportunity to play the game. And all the reviews, from the first to the last, said only good things about the new Metroid. When I bought the game I was realy excited. You don't buy a new Metroid Prime game every day you know! And how is playing it?Cannot explain it with words at all.Everything from the title menu, to the inside of the game was perfect. The graphics are great(the GameCube's best) and
have just a small weakness:when Samus bumps into a wall, the wall itself looks full of pixels, but this will not annoy you anyway. The audio is even better with incredibly realistic sound effects and music even better than your favorite song. But two things make this game different:the controls and the gameplay. The controls are indeed a bit tricky but when you break in it, you will be a master. To move Samus, just
move the left analog foward. You also need to move the left analog if you want to turn Samus towards a specific direction. To see around, just press the R button and turn the analog.By releasing the R button you will be able to move Samus around again. If ypu want to move forward while you are watching upwards for example, you have to make Samus to look upwards and press the L button, while looking up there. The L button also helps you locking into the enemies, which comes out pretty handy.Jumping is easy(just press the B button),while shooting with primary weapon or missiles is even easier(press the A button to fire with primary weapon and the X button to fire missiles). The Z button opens the map, the Y button transforms Samus into morph ball(if it is selectable), the right analog lets you change between the four weapons and finally the D-pad is used to change visors(the way you see).As I said it looks a bit tricky but after you play a lot, you will become a master. Now the last(but not the least), the gameplay.Playing Metroid Prime is an life-time experience. It is offering lots of fun and it is exciting your feelings while it is habituating you more and more. The way you feel when you kill the first enemy, explore huge areas and in the end kill Metroid is.........well it cannot be expained at all.Anyway I think that it is one of the GameCube's best(if not the best) and I would rate it with 98/100.If you have GameCube you must buy it anyhow. If not it's the best reason to buy it.
