MM has you play as our favorite fairy boy, Link. Link is not in Hyrule, however, nor will he be saving Zelda or defeating Ganondorf. Sadly, all those are not in here, but many faces from OoT and the previous games shall be here, along with fresh faces. Link runs in a troublesome Skullkid who scares off Epona and steals Link's Ocarina of Time. You soon follow SK into Termina, a land very similiar to Hyrule, but with its own charms.

You will eventually get back your ocarina and be able to turn back time to day 1, to which you shall work forward, and then turn back time again. Turning back time in this game is necessiary for completion. If you don't beat the game before the 3rd night, the falling moon hits Termina and kills you all. Bummer. But, you can turn back time to day 1 before that happens and keep working on. Turning back time, however, will take away all your ammo and money. Many parts of the game will also be reset, too. However, the key elements will retain. If you beat a dungeon and reverse time, it will still be completed. If you get a mask and turn back time, you will still have it. Songs, weapons, containers, etc. will be retained. Rupees can be stored in a bank, though, to ensure you don't waste it all with time travel.

The main city, Clock Town, has alot of realism in it in that it's breathing and thriving. Certain events are only happening at certain times; stores open and close on a scedule, etc. This can be both involving and frustrating.

This game is big on collecting. You have more heart pieces to get in MM than OoT. No 100 gold skullatas, though, although they are present in special mini game like houses. However, the more important collection to get is the mask collection. 20+ masks to get all with unique features to help progress the game even more.

There are 3 (well, 4, but the Giant Mask is hardly used) transforming masks you get during the story. Deku, Goron, and Zora. Deku will let you shoot magic bubbles and fly for a short time via a flower. Goron Link can hit hard, though slow, and roll into a ball to travel and tear through things. Zora mask lets you swim fast and shoot bommerrangs. All these forms have their uses in their respective temples, though fighting is mostly done through Link.

Speaking of dungeons, you get alot less in MM than OoT. Where OoT gave you 9 dungeons, MM gives just around 5. This is why MM may not be for all who liked OoT. If you don't like side-quests, dont' get MM. If you enjoyed getting all the heart pieces and skullatas in OoT, buy this game. If not, then I suggest not spending your money on MM.

Overall, I give the game a 7/10. OoT got a 10/10. I say this to illustrate the fact that I still think OoT is better than MM, but MM is not without its own charm.
