Welcome to the UAC research facility. You have been assigned here after some odd disapperances and requested leaves. You soon find out why. All hell has broken loose, literally, and you're facing down the front line.
Say hello to Doom 3 and goodbye to those new pants you just bought cause they are getting soaked. Doom 3 is not actually the 3rd Doom game, but those are just samantics. Doom 3 is actually a remake of Doom 1, giving the story that Doom 1 really didn't address.
Already, Doom 3 is not like other Doom games. Sure they were scary, but they were scary for their time. Massive armies of demons and zombies bombarding you while you spin around with your chaingun. That was the other doom games. Doom 3 is a creep around and get creeped out game, so some fans of Doom because of the almost Serious Sam complex may not find all they like in Doom 3.
The graphics are beautiful. Duh. You've heard that all before, though. Crisp lighting effects makes all of the enviroment spooky. Sound is also beautiful in this game, the ambient noises spooking out even the coldest are ice water in anyone's veins.
All your weapons from the previous doom games are back, minus the Super Shotgun, sadly. Some of your favorite weapons are not as good as in the other Dooms. For one, the BFG 9000 (yes, it's back) is not that terrific in this type of gameplay cause it's not open enough. Also, they have added a new toy to your arsenal: the Soul Cube. A nifty little doo dad that'll make the demons start peeing themselves instead of you.
The multiplayer...is fun. However!, there is no, not one, split screen for Doom 3! If you don't have Xbox Live or plan on using a System Link, you are not playing with your friends. However, with the collector's edition, you do get Doom 1 and 2 and can play splitscreen, against each other or with each other.
Online play is fun, but with only 4 players when going against your friends. :( Very weak. Co-op is very fun, though, but very short. Doom 3 really should have picked up the slack on multiplayer because with this lack luster style, Halo 2 will still be the ideal of multiplayer fun.
