Mario, Metroid, and Zelda are my favorite three series in video games.
So I am glad to say that this mario game is only dissapointing in few ways.
Graphics: The water effects look amazing. So does all of that gunk that gets stuck to mario when he slides around in it. I also liked how the slime and stuff goes flying everywhere when you spin around.
Sound: Mario grunts and whoops and makes all of the usual sounds, but there isn't any spoken dialouge, and the sounds some of the charachters make are so annoying. The tunes are alright but not the best.
Story. Mario goes on vacation, but then goes to jail because he has been mistaken as a vandalist. He is then forced to clean up the island. Then guess what? Princess Peach gets kidnapped.
Gameplay: Mario Sunshine plays a lot like Mario 64 except you collect shines rather than stars. I have heard a lot of people talk badly about the water pack that mario uses. I ,however, like the idea and think that it adds to the exploration. I don't like how you sometimes fall through floors, but that doesn't happen very often. I also wish there were more slides like in Mario 64.
I did like the obstacle courses. The camera is also the same from Mario 64, and that is not a good thing.
Replay: There are 120 shines to collect. Which should take you a while, but after you do that there isn't really a reason to play through it again.
Overal: I loved Mario Sunshine. I was a little dissapoited, but not much. I think that it is definetly a game to own.
