GREAT GAME!  Metroid is one of those titles that get better with each installment.  I was never really a big Metroid fan until 2 years ago when Metroid first exploded on the Game Cube.  I was amazed at the overall quality of Metroid 1 and with this follow up performance I can say that I am equally amazed.

The game play is as rock solid as ever.  Everything from part one is back for the most part.  Samus, once again, will start the game losing all of her battle accoutrements in an incidental confrontation with a very intriguing doppelganger of a key character.  Now, in classic Metroid style she must persevere through this handicap and locate everything she has lost and more.

Graphics: I don't know how the developers were able to pull so much power out of that little box.  This game managed to improve on the clarity and sharpness that appeared in part 1.  The battle HUD is improved and offers a very functional scan visor that lets you know what you have already scanned.  The creature designs at the "non-threatening" levels are very reminiscent of part one with the exception of the ING and the resurrected marines (both very scary).

Sound: If you played part one you will notice that the sound is just as good and the music selections are similar in style.  I think they fit the game's exploration qualities well, with its subdued new age instrumental pieces.  The score sill crescendos when you meet a boss or a scary situation.

Controls & game play: If you played part one then there is absolutely no learning or adjustment curve.  This thing is pick up and play right out of the box.  If you are new to the game it shouldn't take long.  As I said before everything is back with the omission of some of the guns.  That's alright 'cause we got new ones.

In closing, all I have to say is that this game is a must buy.  If you thought part 1 was good, think of this as good + 1.  Get it!

PS-the demo does not do the final product justice.
